Coming up with some kids crafts for our Halloween party

I learned pretty quickly when I became a parent that you have to give kids something to do or they get restless and get themselves into trouble. The same definitely goes for when they get in big groups together. So I’ve been doing even more work planning what I’m going to have the kids do during the Halloween party that I’m throwing for my kids and their friends this weekend. I was thinking something along the line of crafts so they would have something to do besides just a few games.

I’m no expert in crafts though, so I looked online with my wireless internet Atlanta to find some ideas about what I could do for crafts that wouldn’t take an art genius to do. Because I’m definitely not an art genius.

I did find some pretty cool ideas and even printed off some Halloween themed coloring pages that I thought would be great for them too. Besides, it wouldn’t hurt to find some good little crafts that the parents would love to keep over the years.

Snowboard Rack

As much as I like the summer, I think it would be nice to at least go snow skiing once. And, if I’m going to go that far, I might as well try out snowboarding too. The truck I have now would easily accommodate either snow ski’s or a snowboard. It’s not technically a snowboard rack but I’m married to McGyver, he can make it work if we can just schedule the trip.

Waterproof Cameras

We don’t have one of the most expensive camera’s on the market but we definitely don’t want to risk losing it, breaking it or worse yet, dropping it in water. We haven’t had much of a reason to need a camera around water really but as my husband starts to talk about scuba diving more and more, I’m sure we are going to need to find waterproof cameras at the source for him to use.

Birthday Cupcakes

You haven’t lived until you’ve celebrated at least one birthday with a child. And, you probably need to spend one birthday watching a bunch of boys run wild across a field and then burying themselves in a mound of cake and ice cream. If you need to find the perfect gift to send someone and don’t want to go with the whole cake, you can send birthday cupcakes to them and tell them to send you pictures so you can share in the moment.

Cable Management

We live so far in the middle of the no where that we don’t have access to a lot of the goodies that folks in larger cities have. We have satellite tv and once had satellite internet. Our phone company just recently added DSL to our neck of the woods. So, while we had great service and was able to to handle cable management when we owned a daycare in town, now we simply fight the fight and wait on the good stuff to come our way. Someday!

Birthday Invitations

I thrive on making my kids birthdays big and the celebrations are always right on. Sometimes things are not as big as the boys would like but they definitely get the idea that we are celebrating their lives. One of my favorite parts is creating the most unique birthday invitations that I can. I like for their invites to have their current picture as well as maybe a flashback photo from the previous years party on them.

With the gulf coast getting hammered right now with rain and storms from the current hurricane just squatting off the coast, folks are going to find themselves with issues that need resolving. The worst part is this rain will keep many from being able to work so obviously the bills that creep in for any reason are just impossible to keep up with. Desk Clerk Jobs

As I sit watching CNN listening to folks bash one another of who is responsible for creating jobs, what effect unemployment compensation and food stamps has on those who collect benefits and simply what are we going to do to help our own people, I get worried about the American people in general. However, if you are on the prowl for a job, you can definitely stick with what you know but if you feel like you need to branch out, maybe looking at the various Desk Clerk Jobs is just a good idea all around.

My parents recently bought a small house that needed a “little work” in their words – well let me tell you that I went over there the other day and they’ve got at least a year of contractor hassles before them! I don’t know what they were thinking at this age to get into something like this but it’s going to be a long time before they can get that house in any kind of shape where they could potentially sell it someday. I set them up with HughesNet so they could research contractors and finishings online and they said that’s been really helpful but the next step is for me to come over and help them work towards a really realistic budget. I don’t know where they’re going to get the money because we don’t usually talk about things like that but I know that when it’s done it’s going to look great because they’re both really meticulous when it comes to stuff like this and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Travelling bug

What is it about this time of year that makes me want to travel? I guess it’s the heat, but either way, I’ve taken off two weeks in June and I’m going to Hawaii! I’m so excited because I’ve never been and I’ve got the whole itinerary all planned out already. I’m going to hike up that volcano, go scuba diving and I may even learn to surf! I love exploring new places but I hate leaving my house unattended – I’m unnaturally paranoid something’s going to happen, and I think it stems from my childhood home burning down when I was younger. I recently got the place set up through http://www.securitychoice.com/adt-home-security/Texas/H/Harlingen/ so I feel a little better about burglars and fire, but I also asked my neighbor Jenny to come check on the place each day. The last thing I want to be thinking about when I’m lying on the beach in Maui is the state of my house! I can’t wait to get in the sun and soak up those Pacific rays – Hawaii here I come!
